Case Study: Enhancing User Engagement and Performance for a Psychological Testing Platform
Introduction
In this case study, we delve into the challenges, strategies, and solutions employed in redesigning a psychological testing platform. The primary objectives were to improve user engagement, manage large-scale data, and optimize the website for high traffic, all while delivering an innovative and efficient user experience.
The Challenge
The project posed several complex challenges:
- Managing SCL-90 test result probabilities and diverse data roles.
- Designing a user experience that was engaging and efficient, avoiding tedious test durations.
- Illustrating disabilities and issues using iconic and animation design.
- Preparing the web infrastructure to handle over 100 companies on launch day.
- Ensuring website load times remained under 3 seconds.
Role and Team
I spearheaded the full-stack development, collaborating closely with my team. Hamoun managed our connections with the Ravesh team, while Amin, doubling as a product and backend developer, focused on product strategy and technical implementation.
Research
Our research phase involved:
- Categorizing psychological test possibilities into six main categories for easier recognition by psychologists.
- Optimizing the test structure: 90 questions across three pages, balancing user attention span and engagement.
- Ensuring a smooth user experience, with over 92% of users completing tests without issues.
Feature and Product Ideas
We brainstormed various ideas to address user pain points:
- Redesigned User Interface: A cleaner, intuitive interface to simplify navigation.
- Interactive Test Format: Engaging visuals and animations to maintain user interest.
- Optimized Web Performance: Enhancing the website’s performance for high traffic scenarios.
Validation and Prototyping
Our validation process included:
- Fake Door Tests for the interactive test format.
- Landing Page Experiments to determine optimal content layouts.
- Prototypes and User Interviews to refine the user interface and test format.
Final Design
The final design featured:
- A streamlined, user-friendly interface with a clean, intuitive layout.
- An interactive test format with engaging animations.
- A high-performance website optimized for heavy traffic, achieving load times under 3 seconds.
Conclusion: Results and Learnings
The redesigned platform was a significant success:
- Product Metrics: We observed a 40% increase in test completion rates and a decrease in bounce rates.
- Customer Feedback: Clients praised the new design for its user-friendly and engaging nature.
- Learnings: This project highlighted the balance between aesthetic appeal and functionality in high-traffic environments.
- Future Goals: Aim to integrate AI-driven personalization for a more tailored user experience.
Summary
This case study demonstrates our commitment to delivering innovative, user-centric digital solutions. The project not only enhanced user engagement but also ensured robust performance under high traffic, setting a new standard in psychological testing platforms.
